Graduate Mechanical Engineering Technician Position

We are currently the largest commercial drone manufacturer in Africa and current world leader and record holder for small unmanned VTOL hybrid aircraft. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Works under supervision providing technical expertise in fabricating, modifying, installing avionics systems.
  • Constructs some individual components of electronic equipment following detailed schematics, layout diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Performs test flight of every unit built.

Other responsibilities:

  • Corrects minor discrepancies by removal, repair, or replacement of defective or deleted parts of aircraft electrical systems during assembly.
  • Performs limited functional checks on existing aircraft electrical systems and equipment.
  • Assists in the troubleshooting, component removal and replacement, testing and documentation in accordance with customer regulations when applicable, utilizing approved technical publications, maintenance standards, and approved procedures.
  • Performs quality controls on systems to locate, diagnose and repair defective parts.
  • Required to log hours of flight time to improve flight-testing skills.
  • Participates in ground control station power up, ground checks, maintenance, aircraft recovery, status debriefing, repair and documentation of repairs and status.
  • Operates automatic test equipment to locate, diagnose, and repair defective parts. Performs routine inspections on systems and equipment.
  • Fabricates, upgrades, routes, and installs wiring harnesses.
  • Disassembles, assembles, and adjusts electronic equipment.
  • Supports repairs, testing, and operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, ground control stations, ground support equipment and associated electronic equipment at facilities.
  • Assist with stock takes and other related administrative duties on request.
  • Assist with the checking in and packing out of stock received.

Qualification requirements:

  • National Diploma (S4) in Engineering - Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics o Advantageous for applicants to have BTech/BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering /Mechatronic Engineering
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to provide effective operation in a small team
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Well-versed and proficient with general workshop tools and procedures.
  • Beneficial to have experience in Drone Operations and flying
